Umh, not sure if you can do everything, but in case you can, it's not one click configuration as MAPI or ActiveSync, as you need to configure pc by pc all the CalDAV, etc. Yes, you will have not only MAPI, but also ActiveSync support for your Mobiles, etc. Thunderbird handle the Tasks using CalDAV too, so maybe Outlook does, again. In theory, yes, I've done it for Thunderbird, here. I've never seen it working on Open Source, but again, with ZCS NE you have MAPI Support, and shared folders, etc. My quick advice will be to buy Network Edition which have MAPI Support, so the users will not feel any difference, but you will as Zimbra is less expensive, plus have all the power on the webclient. Open Source with 3rd party Outlook plugin? This is probably the smoothest solution for Outlook (20), emails, calendars, contacts, shared calendars, tasks, and syncing all those on server (so can be access from Outlook, Zimbra Desktop, web interface, and Android)?
I know the price of Zimbra Network Edition. Task and contacts have to be locally in Outlook (will not be seen from Zimbra Desktop or web interface). I can connect Zimbra Open Source to Outlook via IMAP for emails. There isn't Outlook connector in Open Source Version but you can still buy solution like Z-Push (unfortunately only for Outlook 2013) or EVO Collaborator for Outlook. Meanwhile (hopefully) we will be able to change our internal system that it can connect Zimbra Desktop or web interface via API.
We need to use Outlook at least for first few years.
We prefer to use Zimbra Open Source version. We have about half licenses of Outlook 2013 and second half of Outlook 2010.

Our users are used to share their calendars and use Public folders a lot.Ĭontacts are used only for private purposes, Android syncing (no global lists etc.). Our internal system using MAPI to connect directly into Outlook making emails, calendar appointments, and tasks. We need to switch 15 users from Exchange.
